What a piece of crap!  I've used WinAmp for years.  This latest version is total crap.  Takes forever to load.  Looks up parts of my screen while it's opening.  Song starts before that window pops up so you can't control volume, stop the song or whatever.  If it starts and your computer was turned up, it blasts away until the play screen finally pops up and you can adjust volume.

What is wrong with this thing.  I don't install any of the optional crap.  Anyone else having these issues?  This is V 5.54
Use the modern skin instead of the Bento skin.  I think they made a massive blunder putting that huge front end on it.  The modern skin looks and works great, and loads much faster.
I've always used the modern skin.
Faster computer then?
same computer I've always used it on, but it just got a new, fresh and faster hard drive.
I'm using the latest version, but I also only ever use the classic skin. That helps a ton when I have Cubase open with a boat load of VSTs.
I've never used anything but the "modern" one but I don't know how modern it is.  I've been using it for probably at least 10 years.
Using V5.02 here .
this thing is so buggy!   I opened an FNJ yesterday, and it will start playing the clip but it's about 20 seconds before I can actually click on anything.... so yesterday I opened a clip in my office, and it was FULL BLAST and I couldn't stop it, pause it, turn it down, or anything.  I was frantically trying to get to my sound cards volume control and there were 10 people 3 offices down doing a closing!!!  Good times.   >:(
Good thing no one sent you the "rabbit" file, eh?  It's the one that looks innocuous until you play it.  Then it turns your sound card all the way up and yells "Hey everybody, I'm watching porno over here!!!"

I happened to have the fortunate timing of being at my desk when one of our database guys played it on a quiet floor at Verizon Wireless...  Needless to say, we were laughing so hard we were crying (and, no, I wasn't the one who sent it to him).
Ever thought of opening Winamp on its own, then launching the file?  I have not seen any of these problems... my computer's pretty fast, though.

Get the version you want from oldversion.com --

Charger, yeah, I had to resort to that today. I'd open it and let it "start working" then I'd click on an MP3.  I've NEVER had a problem with it before.  Just about ready to change my preferences to have MP3's play in a different player!
I had to uninstall Winamp a while back.  They had asked to upgrade, and I did as always.  It never would open or run.  I tried reinstalling, all kinds of stuff, but I couldn't get it to work.  I was disappointed.  I had been using Winamp for awhile.  I'm not sure what version the upgrade was, but it was a few months back.  I went back to WMP.  I may do the older version thang.  I wasn't aware of that.  Will it irritate the shit out of you about upgrades?  It annoyed me that Winamp upgraded in the amount of time Jesus stayed in the tomb.
ha, exactly.  Another update already and THIS one isn't buggy like the last one, but it's also not as quick as the old ones.  I'll probably go back a few versions...
