This sort of playing is very clever.......etc etc, but I absolutely can't stand it....sends me off to sleep in about 5 seconds but it seems to be the latest fad....I hate it.

I was really enjoying that until I realized I was listening with my eyes... the music isn't as cool as the skill and technique imo. still, that's one hell of a skill and technique!
I'm with sheep on this one. I think guys that can do that are amazing as hell. I certainly don't have the patience to do all that shit. I'm listening as I'm typing and can't see what's going on.....pure hate. But to WATCH that shit or see it live is awe inspiring.
A lot of that stuff takes place in open tunings. which are fun, but once you realize that then the whole thing seems a bit less impressive. You can hit about anything and sound great in an open tuning.
C'mon guys! Just think of all the girls you could get sitting at a beach campfire playing like that (except without looking like a dork and without those long nails). ;)
I love Andy McKee... similar type of stuff but I find it pretty listenable.
