After hearing a car commercial where the background music reminded me of Iron Butterfly, I've been listening to some of their stuff. Definitely brings back some memories!
Here's some trivia for you: One of the founding band members of Iron Butterfly (keyboards) and the guy who wrote their epic In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was Doug Ingle. Now, the very first band that I was ever in (as third(!) guitarist - hey it was the 70's you know ;) ) was with Doug Ingle on drums (since the band leader was already a kick-ass keyboardist). How is this possible??? Well, Doug's from San Diego and so am I, but he's not the Doug that was in our band, it was his son with the same name. I went to high school with him (same graduating class too). Wasn't long before Doug Jr. moved on to play keys like his Dad though. Never heard what happened to him after that.
:)
