Listening to Music

opeth and plankton... so awesome.

anyways, just posting this to thank IEG, Tincan, Rocket and everyone else who recommended bands awhile back.

musical horizons = expanded! thank you :)

should add: jeff loomis is insane - listening to a lot of nevermore -- KSE is also in the rotation. great stuff once you get accustomed to the somewhat aggressive vocal style - I really kinda like it now.

I'm going in the other direction tonight.  Listened to Pink Floyd's Animals, Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side of the Moon, Division Bell, skipped Echos and the Final Cut, and just finished Meddle.  Next up, a Momentary Lapse of Reason!  :)

Which Opeth were you listening to?  I've only got My Arms, Your Hearse (and I've never heard of Plankton, the band anyway! ;) ).
Damnation and Blackwater Park. I must admit, the vocals can be a bit scary on the heavy stuff... but I really like the music.

http://www.plankton.nu/ <- check them out, totally awesome band (not metal, more of a modern hendrix thing)
Funny I'm having the same issue you are having.  I've got TONS of Opeth.  KSE got a lot of love too.  Check out In Flames, Soilwork, and All that Remains.  The guitarist in All That Remains does some really sick shit.

Isn't Opeth like the most eclectic band ever?  One minute cookie monster....next minute dude can really sing.  I like their arrangments more than anything.

gonna check out the plankton stuff.
yeah, I think they're kinda like a modern version of zeppelin... but more extreme on the mood swings.

will check those out, thanks!
is this all stuff I can listen too here in the office?

:)
plankton is totally office safe. you will absolutely flip over that band, no joke. listen to their version of Take Five...

some opeth that's safe for work... credence, windowpane, closure (I think)... first two for sure.

edit: apparently Plankton has a myspace page... some clips there -> http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=79940023
thanks, I'm on it!

+1 on InFlames.  I saw them on the most recent Gigantour.  I thought the light show they had was going to give me an epileptic fit.

Thumbs up for Plankton - awesome

+1!

Must make money...  I've got some music to buy!  ;)
Yo, bunch of thanks for the heads-up on Plankton, sheep! Awesome band, just ordered the CDs.
Looking forward to check out all their stuff.

Cheers, Hans
I've got four albums.. play count for each song >100 so far.. heh - no bad ones really!

also, credit to IEG on the discovery - his find not mine :)
