It was sad news. He had a good run all things considered.
Saw him play live at a small venue years ago. He came out, plugged in his guitar, wailed like a demon for 45 minutes with barely a breath between songs, unplugged his guitar and left.
Seemed like he was only there because he had a commitment but damn, he played more unique licks in that 45 minutes than any 10 players I've ever seen.
He didn't look too healthy. Thin skin stretched over tendon and bone. Had stage presence in spades...
