one of the greatest guitar albums of all times! Hands down. Just got a new copy of it and have been listening a lot. It's always been a favorite but I didn't realize my CD copy was gone. The tones on that album (along with Jimi) were what always made me want a strat. Spellbound is some of my favorite strat tones ever. KILLER playing from start to finish. Just a KILLER album.
This is MANDATORY listening for all guitar players!
I've got one of his concert videos on my harddrive. Seems to me I posted a link to it around here somewhere too... :)
A lot of his stuff is great. But the Live album was done in his heyday. Just after Bridge of Sighs and For Earth Below. The tone on Spellbound in particular is To Die For tone. The playing, off the charts. Taste, touch, feel, fire... Awesome!!!
It's also part II of me falling in love with white strats, Jimi at Woodstock of course being part I.
Good player as I recall. I probably had a few of his LP's back when he first arrived on the US music scene. However I do not think listening to his music is "mandatory for all guitar players" I would think it is "optional". ;D
It is optional of course. Unless you want to hear one of the greatest players ever and some RIGHTEOUS Strat tones. Then it's mandatory! ;D

I really liked his stuff back then amigo I was just givin you a dig in the ribs.
Oh, I know. Just having fun here too... And wondering why nobody else is commenting on this "all time great" guitar album.
Well, gee, Howie. He's ok, it's not like we're talking about A Flock of Seagulls here! ;) :D
Robin Trower quite often rehearses at the same rehearsal rooms that I use 30 minutes drive from here

We always rent the big room, and damn good value !

I actually had or have a few of his LP's from back in the day. So I paid him the highest compliment I can give any artist. I paid for his work with hard earned cash. 8-)
I think any person who calls himself a guitarist and who doesn't have Robin Trower Live, should either A) immediately purchase it, or B) relinquish all your gear and immediately stop calling yourself a guitar player. Same for Band Of Gypsys!
But the problem may be what Wesley said. "You white boys can't HEAR Jimi!" And perhaps Trower.... ;D ;D
I got all kinds of Jimi on this computer, and they will have to pry my gear out of my cold dead hands, cause I ain't buying any Trower, because I rarely listen to music any more, in fact the only music in my house generally is made by me fresh daily. ;D
Ok, I got a ruling from the judge. If you have lots of Jimi, you get to keep your gear BUT you have to at least download Robin Trower Live from an illegitimate site and listen to it 3 times, say 5 Hail Mary's and do a shot of tequila!

Or you could just download the full concert video from YouTube like I did. ;)
I try to help you guys, and this is the thanks I get! ;D ;D
If you want to help, send me a Kemper and a Tokai. ;)
