Listening to Music

Wow! Just purchased the CD "the Raven that refused to sing" . Wonderful job.
A perfectly executed and well recorded album.
I am trying to detox from I-IV-V so I've purchased also "in absentia" ( Porcupine tree)
Another GREAT piece of music!

...plus the new Steve Hackett CD: "Genesis Revisited II".  A fresh set of Genesis covers.

Big surprise listening to "the Lamia" ! After few seconds...hey, Who is the guy that's singing? I know this voice but I don't recall.... WTF, Nik Kershaw!!
From "I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" to The Lamia...end of the world!!  :)
he's an incredibly interesting dude (Wilson) - I haven't gotten around to his new one yet but will eventually.

some of my favorite I-IV-V detox stuff to check out if you haven't yet:

Radiohead (The Bends, OK Computer)
Muse (Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations)
Opeth (Heritage, Damnation... not too metal, it's gateway Opeth ;))
Storm Corrosion (Storm Corrosion)
Scott Henderson (Live!)

I checked out two of Wilson's recommendations as well: Comus' first album... wow! Scott Walker... wtf? no.

if you still need detoxing after all that... try Chopin nocturnes and/or Mozart piano concertos. :)
I've got Cover Version and Grace For Drowning.  Guess I'll have to check out his latest effort now!  :)

And, it never ceases to amaze me that, with all the music I have, I keep running into some I don't have anything from!  In this case it's Scott Henderson.  Cool.  :D

Noice!  Guitar sounds great but bass sounds like he's kicking a box - lol.  :)
not detox music... but if we're trying to stump Craig's music collection... how about Brian Kahanek? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6VUN43fPOc

Four Horsemen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1heJ85PJ7gI

Witchcraft? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJN0fP-uCt8
*Argh!*  >:(

Those better not be good or I'm going to be out of money!  ;D

I just got a settlement from the mass lawsuit against Bank of America.  They take $651,000 from me and I get...  $1,484 back.  :(

Needless to say, since I don't go out anymore and have my budget cut to the bone anyway, a nice portion of that has been set aside (and already chewed into) for new music.

In fact, the new Steven Wilson is playing in the background right now (seems like it's been playing for a long time already yet I'm only on the third song).  I'm REALLY liking this one!  Thanks for the heads-up!  :)

Scott Henderson is pretty good, but not as much my cup of tea as the Steven Wilson stuff.

I wish Plankton would come out with a new album...  They STILL have Ocean Tales as a new one and it came out in 2009!

All good!  Though I think I like Witchcraft the best.  :)
yeah, the horsemen are throwbacks... got their CD around '93 I think and even then it was throwback. not really a fan, per se, but I was fairly sure they weren't in your catalog ;)

the Kahanek album I have is really good (don't know if he did more than one)

I've got Witchcraft on the list for future heavy rotation... I've only listened to them on YouTube so far but they're pretty awesome!

Henderson is such a phenomenal player... the rest of it (the band) doesn't really creep into my ears. and, actually, he's not really a detox from I-IV-V with all the SRV style he throws in. he's one of the best players around imo.

a new plankton CD would be fantastic... but I haven't seen much out of them for a while. just a live vid with bad mic'ing... :\

class action suits never work out for me either. I never have a big number like that in any one thing... so, for me, it's usually a thick court ordered notice promising me something like $0.15 if they're successful. It might have been a whole dollar if they hadn't spent money on printing and mailing already! ;)
Thanks a lot for all these links and suggestions.

Listened to all of them! My fav is "damnation" by Opeth ;)

In these days of vacation I'm restoring my old HI-FI system and removing the dust from my old CD's.
What a great thing is listen to Robben Ford, Chick Corea, John Patitucci, Dave Weckl, Genesis, EL&P,Yes and others......instead of losing my time playing crappy pentatonic scales on the guitar telling to my self that the problem is the amp and not ME!  :)

Mm mm...it's probably the guitar...  ;D  ;D
Robben Ford?  Chick Corea?  John Patitucci?  Dave Weckl?  Genesis?  EL&P?  Yes???

Wow, are these guys all new?  I've never heard of them!!!  :o

(Well, ok, I'm kidding - but I don't have anything by Weckl.  ;) )

New music exploration is fun.  :)

Stop it!  ;D

(Me likey the new Steven Wilson - about to start the third go-thru... :) )
