I don't remember where I saw/heard them before (it wasn't here), but I LOVE them. I'm quite jealous. I hope they're coming to Austin at some point...

Verdict: if more jazz musicians played music like this, more people would like jazz.
One of the best shows I have ever seen. They did a bunch of really cool originals, as well as their covers of an Aphex Twin song, Nirvana's "Teen Spirit," and a Stravinsky tune. Such a treat to see these guys in a club that holds 200... it was intimate, to say the least. Best tune was a new one, unrecorded, called "People Like You," that almost brought me to tears with its beauty.
This reminds me of living in L.A. :'( There's a jazz club in Universal City called The Hot or Baked Potato! (it's been a while!) Awesome musicians! High energy jazz! This high school buddy of mine who plays like this idolizes Dave Weckl and he plays just like him....

My friend was the third runner up for the drummer spot for Eric Johnson back in '93. He is an awesome drummer, but he injured both of legs a few years ago so he doesn't play that much anymore. Tragic cuz he was so good... :'(
