Among those celebrating Massachusetts Institute of Technologys 150thanniversary over the weekend was Tom Scholz. The MIT alum and mastermindbehind the formerly mega-selling band Boston performed with the Pops atSymphony Hall, wearing a tuxedo shirt and playing his signature MightyMouse Les Paul guitar. (In his intro, Pops conductor Keith Lockhartrecalled how Bostons first LP was the soundtrack to his senior year ofhigh school.) Scholz played a new song, Last Day of School, on theSymphony Hall pipe organ. He played four songs on guitar to a sold-outhouse backed by the orchestra, ending the set with To Be a Man from theThird Stage album.
