I've been digging on The Brand New Heavies, specifically their album "BrotherSister" - just tight as fuck and funky as hell - but with a smooth soul edge that makes them almost sound jazzy.
I also love the Foxboro Hot Tubs album - Green Day goes '60s garage - it's really fun straight-up rock and roll stuff - like Jet with a much better sense of melody and better singing.
Just thought I'd share.
