Funny you should say that.  I have been contemplating that, but so far I haven't heard any examples of the AxeFX that sound that great to be honest.  There is plenty of hype, but all of the samples that I have heard are average !

the hype is real. if you can find a place to test one, i think you would be impressed.

Jon, I haven't recorded with one but we did get to check one out when Chase brought his to WHStock/Bertfapalooza.  VERY impressive!  

Actually i have just found some very good examples on the fractalaudio forum. Very impressive, now got major GAS and will be pulling the trigger later today. Very expensive but hopefully worth it. I can't find a negatve comment about it and if t is the wrong move I will return it.

Holy Helmet Head Batman.....I just ordered the Axe FX Ultra !!!!!!  Should be here in 2 days!   Now just have to sell some gear to justify the purchase !

Congrats Jon.  A VERY cool piece of gear!!!  You are going to have some fun with it.  

I can't justify $2650 for a piece of gear that loads 32 total amp and speaker convolutions at 5ms latency.  That seems ridiculously overpriced to me.  I could put together a system to do that for around $1k-but it would load unlimited speaker and mic sims.

Yes that's right, that's the price I paid.  You can get the standard version for $1,600 ish.

edit:  correction, that should be 1,995 euros for the ultra and 1,600 euros for the standard.

Yep.  I'm talking about the other piece of gear.  The Fractal price I understand... not only does it do mics and cabs, but it has amp models and a shitload of fx.  How diffusion audio plans to sell their extremely limited box for 700 more than that is a mystery to me.

Yes, I agree with you there.   A great concept to have the cabs in one box, but that really is way too pricey considering it is cabinets only.
