The Blue Mikey, ~$50 at amazon for a stereo condenser mic that plugs into my iPhone. (UPDATE: just checked amazon and it's now $44 shipped.) How could I resist.
Laid this down this weekend, two acoustic guitars, I'm on the left, my buddy is playing rhythm on the right, and singing. Using BluefIRE app (free) to record to stereo wav file, the mic is in the middle of a coffee table between us, we're sitting on two sides of an L-shaped couch, each about 3-4 feet from the mic.
I compressed and limited a bit, but no EQ changes. I have to say it's pretty impressive for the size, cost, and ease of use. I think the price has dropped because there's a new one coming out this summer. But having an instant stereo recorder available with my phone = priceless.
A warning, there is some nsfw/nsfk language in the middle of the song. Also, I'm playing with my fingers, so don't expect any insane legato.
