Um....I'm surprised I haven't heard of this band from all of the info I get from you guys. Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Chad Smith, and yes....Joe Satriani. They have a CD due out VERY soon.
I just saw them on The Tonight Show. And Satch did cool shit on his guitar....as he always does.
Did some research and found this:

That lineup has immense potential. Let's just hope it's not another Asia...

What was wrong with Asia?
It's out, I got it and it does ROCK. Although it does not sound anything like Asia,it does sound like a Sammy Hagar thing.
In a good way

All the hype about them being the next "Supergroup". I honestly loved some of their stuff, but thought overall they leaned away from the prog stuff that made most of them stars and towards a more POP oriented style, that in the end led to their demise.
Personally, when I heard the lineup, I expected album after album of killer stuff. What I got was a few great songs.
Liking the cd . I think it's good , not great.
Need to listen a few more times to get into it.
What's wrong with Asia? I framed one of their posters! :)

LOL, again, I really LIKE Asia. I just expected to LOVE Asia. I've read that they felt the pressure of being labeled the next "supergroup" before they ever put out a song, and that they felt pressure for commercial success. They felt the need to write "hits" instead of staying with the more proggy stuff that made them all stars.
A drummer friend of mine has the CD, says he likes it, "has a few really good tunes, some so so." Guess thats normal. He already knows they're coming here soon, wants me to go with, $45 for tickets - heh, least its a small club, should get a good look at the old guys and their gear.
$45??? Kinda steep, aye? I'm not really a Satch fan or a Hagar fan so I would prolly only pay like $25, :D but I LOVE me some VH and some Chili Peppers! So maybe...
I've always thought of Hagar as the Hulk Hogan of rock, back when he was the "red rocker" and couldn't drive 55. :D I love his voice on some of the VH songs though, he's got some pipes!
As far as Satch goes, I could never really get into his music, except for "Crush of Love". very cool vibe on that one, and with Stu Hamm on bass, whoa!
They're coming here in September, depends on how much for me. Where I work, I get a lot of free tix, so maybe. Like Derek says, it would be cool just to see what they're playing thru nowadays.

I just found out over the weekend that one of my wife's high school classmates is married to Chad Smith. We had no idea until she posted something on Facebook that made us go, "wait..." and then we looked through her pictures and then to Chad's Wikipedia page.
I just thought that was neat.

I like some of Satch's tones on these tunes. Never ever have been a Sammy hagar fan though. Truthfully, had I never heard of Chickenfoot and heard Down The Drain, I would have thought it was Van Halen.
Shit, I could have downloaded some of their stuff from the Tone Farm before it went belly up ( I think I recall someone uploading a full album of MP3's on the FTP). Oh well. RIP Tone Farm.

Well Spai I never was a Hagar fan either until I saw his Cabo Wabo on Direct TV's Concert channel. I have to admit he puts on a real good show. and frankly can play some pretty mean guitar hisself, although he had this black dude who was the bitchinest black metal shred style guitarist I ever saw.
