trying some stuff out... not a finished tune but hit a wall after the lead part, so taking a break from it until something comes along. the outro isn't likely to be in the tune... it's just stuck on there for now. heh. most of it sounds too familiar, like I've done it before... not sure. so it might not ever get out of this phase... but the way the lead section works - that is something I will probably make use of in another tune.
I get that the outtro was just stuck there. I like it. I dig where the effect slows at the end. That's a pretty cool sound.
The lead is awesome. Cool stuff
The first part seems missing something. I don't know what. I don't want to be too critical, because it's excellent. After 25 sec. it stops pulling you in. Almost repetitive. But if it's a verse with Howie doing some cookie screams over, it could work.
It's really excellent recording, I think. It sounds great. Needs some frankensheeping. I hope you find humor in that. I remember you use to talk about just piecing stuff together.
I usually dig everything that you post up, and this is no exception.

I dig this a lot. I've listened to it a bunch. I call it "contrast"--the solo section is one of the coolest contrasting tone sections I've heard in a long time. The ending is wicked too. I don't think I'd change a thing.

thanks!
yeah DM, I agree. the first part is just not doing it for me though it's "correct" in some ways... I like the layout but the riff/chords are kinda blah. I'm more convinced now that I've done that chord sequence before... heh. if it were staying as is, it would need some ebow stuff or bizarre guitar noise bits to make it listenable. I just need to come up with a better riff... will keep messing around with that augmented thing at the start and see if anything happens... or something based off the outro riff (but faster). I couldn't really do any frankensheeping because it was so uninspiring! heh.
also, don't worry about being critical - it's totally awesome to get critical feedback! extremely helpful imo.
edit: missed charger's....
I still think the first part is kinda dull! heh! thanks! I'll try not to screw up the good while addressing what I think is kinda bad... but I can't get into the first part as is - needs a much cooler set of riffs. I do really like the lead part sound (the lead itself could be a little better... but it's close).

The more I listen to it the more I like it! I've tried to add some pad and choir in the background. Very basic playing here.... Anyway if it could help you for some idea... :)
P.S. Feel free to delete the post!! :D

That sounds pretty cool, LWB. Pretty cool addition.

Been listening to a lot of interesting stuff lately, including a bunch of Haken, so I can say "Contrast is good!" :)
My quick comments about this clip are that the intro could be a little longer (and/or possibly some of the end section could either become or be added to the intro?).
ironsheep#9 · Jul 31, 2014 01:31 UTC
very cool lwb! I like how that ties things together and fills it out... going to the outro makes sense in your clip! I need more ebow pads in mine!! I've got another strings noise I'd like to use too... heh :) thanks!!
craig - lwb's comment via clip has me thinking the intro should be longer and more interesting. I think I'll try to flat out rip off some chopin! heh ;D
more parts... levels are a bit off, last part sounds bad and it all doesn't transition well enough yet but can't do more today.

Noice! That was fun as hell. I dug it more than all of the "heroes" instrumental guitar type stuff, but I guess I only really dug the Attitude Song anywayz. I liked all of the sections and the energy was good, great playing too. Thanks fer throwing it up!
ironsheep#12 · Jul 31, 2014 21:14 UTC
thanks!
...goes off to listen to the attitude song (best vai album imo!)

Maybe the Sheepster doesn't understand Italian? :D
DM#21 · Aug 03, 2014 16:52 UTC
I think the singing was like the start of the Stones - Sympathy for the Devil, only in Italian.
I like that last version. I did skip the middle one. Sounds really good. I like the sound of that Mojo-Vibe Riddle thing. I looked them up. I hadn't checked into EHX pedals in a while. They have a bunch of newer interesting stuff. I wrote down a bunch of stuff to try. I spent about an hour watching pedal vids from their site.
Dig the tunage!
I meant to ask, Are you using some sort of Expression pedal with those?
ironsheep#22 · Aug 03, 2014 19:19 UTC
nah, just letting the attack/decay do the work... and changing the vibe speed via the knob every now and then (big knob... can use a foot)
