It sounds like jazz meets bluegrass meets blues meets I don't know what else.

Chick is kind of cute too!! ;)
FUCK!  I'd like to rip off all of Steffen's riffs and all of Jane's clothes!  :o 8-)

That was fun!
That is great stuff.
So... Any idea how he gets that tone?

Sounds like a Fender or Fender clone amp to me, and probably some kind of pedal or a smaller Fender or Fender clone amp overdriven. I could be way wrong but that is my guess. It sounds similar to my HRD with the on board overdrive channel, and my Agile Strat clone. The only difference is the playing skill.
I like the tune.  I'm not all that blown away by his tone.  Same thing in a couple other videos he has up... tone that doesn't do much for me, especially compared to his playing.  If I had to guess his gear, I would say it's something out of the valvetronix line.

Edit: wrong.  A bunch of pedals... I saw a pic on his site with a Tube Driver and a bunch of other pedals that DTR would probably recognize.  So the amp could be anything... fairly brittle/class A in its crunch... I'd still guess a Vox, not a Fender or Marshall sound at all.
Yep it could be an EL 84 sound, maybe one of DrZ's amps plenty bright with a hint of fizz.
I kinda dig the sound.  Got a little bit of snarl to it.
I liked the tone but it's something I hadn't run into before.  Considering that I haven't owned a Fedner amp in about 30 years and never owned a Vox that could explain why I don't recognize the tone.  I've also never had an amp with EL 84's.

I can use my VHT 2/50/2 (with EL 34's) as a Class A or Class A/B, but have only used it as Class A/B.  Maybe I'll have to try that switch and throw a pedal or two in front of it.
