Here's my latest (and final) attempt at zeps Rock and Roll.

I recorded this "live" in one take, with no overdubs or trickery.

or with visual effects

Recorded the guitar straight into Reaper along with my backing track.
Recorded the video on my Canon Ixus still camera in video mode (also record poor quality sound at same time on the camer)
Mixed down the audio from Reaper to a stereo wav.
Imported the video to Sonar
Imported the Reaper mixdown wav into Sonar.
Manually synced the camera soundtrack and the Reaper mixdown soundtrack (by referencing a "clapper board" peak.
Muted the camera soundtrack.
Exported the video with the Reaper soundtrack to an AVI file.
Imported AVI into Windows Movie Maker
Added titles
Final Export to wmv file.

What do you think?
good job on the vid - sounds great.

Sounds GREAT !!

Ciao !
Marco
Nice fun vid Jon - but where's the vocals!!   ;D

As I said, if you and I could get together Jon, between us we could really nail this puppy!  Fancy getting together for a jam and a beer one weekend?

Rich  ;)

No point in attempting the vocals really, as I just can't sing or hit the notes.  Songs like this need a really special voice to carry it off, and that ain't me!

Yep, I would be up for a jam and a beer one weekend. when did you have in mind?

I'll send you my tel no so we can swap no's to tee something up -  next weekend perhaps?  ;)
Extremely nice job, Jon.  The video and the sound were excellent.  Playing was great.  The sunglasses made the whole thing come together though, that was obvious. :D

The funny thing is, the only reason for wearing the sunglasses was that I was using a garden floodlight (indoors) to ensure I could capture a bright image on the camera, it was so damn bright I needed the sunglasses.
you dang rock stars and your sunglasses!   ::)

;D  Good job!  Really enjoyed it!
Very nice!  And the vocals were even better than last time!  :D ;)

Yes, I think the vocals were much better this time around  :)
Sweet ! Great sound and playing , not to mention the quality of the video
and here's one more for good luck.   Same video, but with some visual effects (I ran it through adobe premier)

Actually, that gets me to thinking about trying out some green-screen (chroma) stuff. That would be interesting

Uh oh!!!  ;D
Jon, I think the quality of that is as good as just about any stuff I see out there.  Nice job.  I like the added effects.
I just discovered how to do key mapping in Adobe premier to remove the background etc. It didn't work that well as my shirt was the same colour as the background, so if you are interested to see the result I've uploaded it to the same link as before

I've also found a supplier of a 4 metre by 6 metre muslin chroma green backdrop, including a stand to hold it in place.....only $150.   I think I'll get some of this so I can mess about with background replacement.  Not for any other reason than it's damn good fun by the way!
whip out your "Song Remains The Same" DVD and impose your vid over the band background!
