Saturday night I bought this amp off Ebay called a Little Lanilei 3350LT in Tweed. It is incredible! Here's the website of the maker: http://www.songworks.com/3350lttopseller.html. It has three channels which can give you either your Marshall or Fender type tones. The 6 inch speaker in the amp is pretty pitiful but I plugged it into a box with a 12in Celestion and look out!
The amp is about 10in square but is rated at up to 50 watts! It's a valve amp and it sounds amazing.

With a 12AX 7 power tube it ain't 50 watts, other than that it looks cool

It has a solid state power amp.

It has a solid state power amp.
And I repeat: it sounds amazing!
Ok then with a nice solid state power amp it can have 50 watts, I stand corrected.
DBM, don't worry about that.  The description for this amp is confusing.
I think it's a bit like the power stage of the Vox valvtronic amps except witout the modelling.
what he's doing is kinda wierd.  I've read about these before.  What it does is run one gain section of the 12ax7 as a power amp (about 1/4 watt) and then runs that into a power soak load, then into an SS power amp section.  The way he describes it is that it uses the tube power at lower volume, then when you turn it up it starts to use the SS power amp, but it is driven through the tube and power soak.

The idea is good it it works (hype aside).  If it sounds good, it is good.   ;)

Well with a solid state power amp, it kills my interest. I am a tube snob all the way. Of course for metal and heaver rock a SS power amp is OK, but for subtle blues, I gots to have a tube power and preamp section.
You've got your tube power amp (the 12ax7) and pre-amp (the 12au7). Imagine a Marshall plexi, all tube & tone, and then tack a 1000w solid state power amp on the end of it to amplify the sound of the plexi on 10. This is what is happening with this little amp except that instead of a 100w plexi we have a small 1/4w tube amp going into a 50w solid state amp. The gain control is just like the volume control on a non master tube amp. The solid state amp just makes it louder.
Once I had a Peavey Or Music Man hybrid amp and the sound was great on the thing. However one component went bad on the thing and it blew the 2-12 inch speakers. Never bought another amp with SS after that (except for 2 Fender Frontman amps for practice) I will stick with tubes myself. Of course others have different opinions according to their taste, which are just as valid as mine.
