fuck me.  My 100 watt JVM head barely keeps up.

Earplugs at band camp from tomorrow.  That'll keep the old farts (tigerbill, voxy, and DBM) happy.

Problem with the amp too.....  Any suggestions here???

I've just bought an m9 (line 6 hiiiissss!!!! Garlic and crosses!!!!). But my effects loop is unusable as even jumped it goes 'tone colorong' "digital" sounding......

Tried the same head at the shop today - no issues.  I took the thing back under warranty but the fuckers said there wasn't an issue...  Dickheads.

I'm gonna stay in touch from now on...  I can access you guys from the iPhone do I'd Luke to catch ip with the regulars.

Are the sheep rooting Aussie (BTW yanks... It's Ozzie as in Osbourne with a ZZ - not Aussie with an S...... Get it right for once.....) pricks Max & Cin still here??????

Hiya TTBB, how's it hanging?

Your JVM has both series & parallel configurations.  Try the other configuration to the one you're using - series is usually better than parallel when using external processors.  The one in the store may have had the FX loop set opposite to yours.

Re volume, & I'm being deadly serious here, if the band is THAT loud it's not clever & you really could permanently damage your hearing especially the discerning of higher frequencies.  It creeps up on you!  Turn the volumes DOWN and use those earplugs!

Re amp volume, it's not so much your amp as your speakers.  If you (seriously) need more volume, you need higher sensitivity speakers.  If you had a 100w going through 4x 12 97db speakers, and I had the same amp in 50w version, but was going through a 4x12 with 101db speakers, my amp would be louder!  You can reckon that 3db difference is akin to doubling your amps power output and is the discernable volume difference as between a 50w and 100w amp through the same speakers.

The effects loops..... One has a mix ratio knob. This is the one I want to run the m9 through.?  How do I swap it from being parallel to series????

Also the amp down lower sounds great - but up that loud it sounds very bitey and middy...  Does this make sense??  It loses all of it's fatness....  I'm still chasing the sounds I hearing in songs... & generally I get the tone.  But now up loud I get the Marshall 'buzz saw' that I sometimes hear it referred to....

Any help????

I'm not sure which model your JVM is but it's explained in the manual - I suspect its the serial FX loop option you want to try, rather than the parallel with the wet/dry mix.

Sounds as if you need to try a different cab - Marshall's usually sound great with Celestion Greenbacks or V30's.

Along with the post I put elsewhere I've just gotta explain that my head was swapped over by the shop.  This one is fine; so definately a problem with the loop of the other one.

BTW Rich; I retirned the M9.  I don't need to spend a $600 on a Line 6 when I can get the New upgraded Zoom unit for $190.

It wasn't the effects unit (s) - it was the loop causin' the problems....

BTW too; I've runnin a Mesa Boogie 2x12 with V30's....
