My brand new C1 Classic is not holding up too well to the rigors of live use. Of course there is the ongoing string breakage issue... even 12's break on it. But now... last night one of the little pearl inlays on the tone knob fell off, no biggie but irritating nonetheless. Then, my input jack nut falls off and the jack goes up into the guitar... pain in the ass, I couldn't find it so now I have to go to a frichen hardware store.
I have had issues in the past with abusing my instruments live, you know, getting caught up in the moment or whatever, but I have really calmed down in my old age. Even the cheapo Ibanez guitars that I used to beat the crap out of held up better than this... Except there was the time I ripped the Edge trem straight out of one of my Jems, just doing razy whammy shit and I pulled the whole bridge right out, live.
You ripped the trem out of a Jem??? :o :o
Well, don't blame me! I could go back and find a post where I warned you that you'll probably need to get a smaller nut and
you'll have to tighten the input jack since they're always loose on Schecters for some reason!
;)
P.S., I also replaced the knobs on my Schecters so I wouldn't know about the inlay issue. Did you ever get those thin files and work on the bridge to prevent the string breaks?

yeah, tightening the output jack is common I think...
But truthfully I have had to do that as regular maintenance on every gtr I own...
as for the knobs, both my schecter's come with chrome dome knobs, so no issue there.
And I haven't had any issue with string breakage, but then again I am not a heavy handed player, which if you broke the tremolo right out of the guitar would evidence your are fairly heavihanded.
Yeah Howie it was back in the day and I was doing really "Steve Vai wannabe" crap and I used to way over use the whammy. Well, this one time during a finale solo I pulled the guitar up over my head by the trem bar, brought it down, gave a sharp pull, thing came right out. I only had 2 springs on it and I guess maybe I hadn't put them in properly, that was back when I used new strings for every gig.
I am going to fix the jack of course, maybe upgrade to a Switcraft jack or whatever. The knob I guess some super glue will fix.
I did file the bridge, and then lubed it with a graphite pencil. I am ordering the Graphtech saddles as soon as I get moved over to the new location. This weekend at both gigs I did not break the D string, which is the one that always breaks, but I broke a G string doing too high a bend.
I drank a lot at both gigs, so much so that I really don't remember much of Saturday. I am thinking if I drink a little less the guitars may hold up a little better. When I am drunk, and having fun, I dont stop to consider that I am beating the shit out of a $600 guitar that I really can't afford to replace. When I played Eruption, my Schecer has no whammy, so I bent the neck to do the dive bombing... Big no-no... I never would have done that sober. Damn the bar for giving us free drinks all night, damn them...

LOL,... ya think? :)

Holy Shiite Muslim Batman!
p.s. Back with my Artist was my only guitar, I used pick scrapes instead. Much easier on the guitar!!!
