garage ipad test thing (acoustic)

I used garageband (in my garage (heh)) to record this on my iPad (it's old, first model) - the "I recorded this on my phone" stuff got my curiosity going...

anyway, garage for reverb (and ambient bird accompaniment, heh) only some compression added later in logic.

verdict: my iPad's mic is kinda ok but it's noisy. might get one of those zoom field recorder units... was fun to record in a different place.

I think it sounds good. Dig the playing. That's what's important and it's presented pretty well. You could possibly ruin the spontaneity with mic placing and tweak fucking it. I like a lot of the old simple recordings. Some background noise is cool. A beer burp might be out of place. :D

heh, yeah - it's hard to make bodily functions musical, though I have heard it done! :o ;D

Sounds good. By the way, you can get a midside mic from zoom that plugs into the ipad. I use the midside mic on the zoom H6 and it gives great wide stereo results on room acoustic sounds, very good for drums too.

that mic would be great -- I'll need a newer iPad though. mine is the original version... probably about time for an upgrade but it's not dead yet... I'm kinda stubborn. heh heh.

My kiddo sent me the original I-Pad when third generation was coming out. The wife and I just use ours to play games and look at netflix, after getting the I-Pad 1, I went out and bought the wife one of her own with the retina display. I like mine better than the newer OS on hers. (probably just because I am more familiar with OS 5.xx than OS 8.xx)

yeah, I like mine still too - but I'm starting to notice some problems cropping up... websites causing crashes, slower performance on app starts and stuff (kinda odd)... I'll reset it soon and see if that helps. I don't really want to move to the newer iOS either... it looks kinda lame to me.
