After working with Grace I am absolutely nobody so far.
Here is the signal path, the tone is OK, I could have done as well with the Tonelab/Nady TD1, just a little different maybe, but just as live sounding.
Homemade Strat Tele Hybrid, Seymour Duncan pups the rhythm was through the super distortion rear and Little fifty niner middle between sound, much fatter than a strat, the leads were the Super Distortion. The cleans were straight into my stock Epiphone Valve Jr with JJ tubes into a single EVM12L in open back cab, sm57 1" from the grill cloth aimed at the rim of the speaker. For the leads I used a Nady TD1 tube distortion device I left the 57 right where it was. For effects on the lead guitar I used the RDe-esser from waves just to take away a little buzz and sent it through the Waves IR 1 verb Ryman Row F (I think Row F)
That kid can sing! That was really good.
Sounding groovy! Guitar is a little distant, but that could just be me, haven't heard the original in quite a while (got the damn CD im my car even, need to break it out), might've been what you were aiming for vs nailing the original. Again, great playing, I liked your little ad libs towards the end. :)

Thanks amigo
I never learned how to copy licks, I just learned the alphabets (scales and how to place them) So I never do cover tunes like the record, It would be way too much work learning those licks. I only spent about four or five hours on this tune over a three day period. The hardest part was getting the MIDI file to sound real. that is an art in itself. I only put on three guitar tracks, the rhythm is lost in the piano frequencies, and fattens up the piano sound a bit, then there is the clean licks between the phrases, and the leads and fills on one track then I varied the volume of the fills to lay in the back, featuring her voice. I put the little fills way behind her voice, in the solo it comes front.
Excellent vocals...I imagine she would be very good at singing some real slow blues with lots of light and shade, some low vocals and some explosive screams into the stratosphere.
Yep, we definitely need her voice around here!
Thumbs up from me ! :)
Thanks Jon, wish she was around here, but she lives over a thousand k away (975 miles) Anyways it was fun to do and of course next time she comes around we will do more of it I guess.
WOW !!! Sounds great, DBM !
Nice voice and nice guitar work for one of my favs songs !!
Ciao !
Marco
Cool stuff
Great vocal.
You should get her set up and teach her/point her at material on how to record her voice herself.
Then she is only as far as a click on the net.

Thanks amigo, but I have very little input on her and what she does. I am hoping that I can produce a full CD of her as time goes by. She is an excellent lyricist, and a very good keyboard player as well, but she goes to Sonoma State University in California, so she is busy with that and her band most of the time when she is up there. This is probably a one off thing. Or just when they are on vacation down here. She has the ability to take classes in digital recording which I encouraged her to do.

Thanks Marco, it is nice to get this feedback from my peers (Grazie Marco, è bello per ottenere questo feedback da miei coetanei)
