G'day...  Just got back from tassie and melbourne over the past 5 weeks.....

Can't check in from the road; so a belated hi to all......

I'm gonna start a few other topics as I have a little to tell; so I'll kep it short here.

I one a couple of hunnie at the cas in Hobart a few nights ago; so i bought one of these....  (Power Screamer)

Lotsa fun; especially when you hit the diode switch to the right and it makes a fantastic fuzz sound.  Described as small amp going to explode is right...

But my Hot Rod Deluxe STILL sounds 'honky' or 'boxy'......The pedal sounded great and fat in the shop; but lacks tone at home....

Any suggestions....???
I don't know what to say, I have really liked my HRD with pedals, but I put them between the guitar and input and use only the clean channel. I hardly use the overdrive channel, but I do have it activated and the foot switch out so I can use it. I also have a volume control box which I put into the effects loop. I turn the pre amps up, and I regulate the volume via the volume control box which is just a little box with a 250K audio taper pot in it. It helps.

I set the tone controls far different from any other amp I have ever used. I set the trebles at about 10:00 O Clock, (don't know the number on the dial), The bass on 3, and the mids at about 2:00 O Clock (don't know the number on the dial). The presence all the way off.

By the way, the new Eminence Tonespotter speaker and the Weber Beam Blocker added a whole new sound dimension to the thing, much better.

My conclusion; a stock HRD is not a real tone full machine all by itself. That is why I am looking to upgrade my main amp to a Bogner Alchemist Head or Egnater Renegade head. With the Renegade head in the lead but they are not released so I cannot say until I hear both at GC.

Replace the honky on guitar with a person of darker skin tone?

Hey!  Get your own jokes!
On a darker note re my 'one' comment....

Claire today came after a tough week at the office..... she's been hounded for a few things; including a dressing down for sending an email to the ceo full of spelling mistakes.

The thing is; she's dyslexic.  Can't see the mistakes.  Yet her job (which she has a university degree for) involves her proofreading and correcting other peoples work.

Well today shehad come home early from a meeting; and sent an email from the 'home' laptop that doesn't have automatic spell check; and fuck... the drama.  She was crying, slapping her head because of the email she sent - full of bad grammar and spelling mistakes.

I felt so sorry for her.  Genuinely.  She regards herself as stupid - which she's not.  A person that gets a university degree with a learning disability is amazing in my boks.   I lasted 6 months at Uni.  And I don't have dyslexia....
