Hey!  You've got Jon's hairstyle!  LOL! ;D

Looks like fun.  :)
tight band - sounds very good
Cool!
yep way cool

Fun! You guys took a unique tune to begin with and still spun it in another fresh way, sorta Huey Lewis and the Newsed it!!

I love the snare tone here, tight.
It's actually the Art of Noise version (that featured Tom Jones) of the Prince song Derek, though they did modify a lyric here and there.  :)

Ahh, thanks. Shows my limited pop knowledge, lol.

Funny you should mention the snare. That's one of the band's biggest issues at the moment: Excessive stage volume, the primary culprit being the drums with the snare in particular. The drummer uses a piccolo snare which he considers his trademark. Its like playing with a rifle shot in your ear every second beat and it's certainly contributed to my tinnitus condition. He is not one who is willing to modify his ways for the good of the rest of us. What makes things harder is that we've all been good mates for about 35 years so "sacking the drummer" is not the answer.
Have you tried using musician spec ear plugs ?
I have earplugs and although they're not the custom made ones, they do a good job. Problem is that the drums being louder than everything else means I still can't hear myself. So it's either A: everyone else turns up which usually means a catastrophe or B: drummer reduces his volume and all, sound guy, audience and band are then happy campers. We usually start the night with what we call our "dinner set" where he uses brushes. The stage mix is then good. I can actually hear everyone and blend myself in accordingly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpGDdt8kDXw&feature=related As soon as he picks up the sticks it eventually becomes white noise. His mantra is "the louder I play the more they dance. The drums only start to speak to the people when I play loud." We once used a sound meter during a rehearsal without his knowledge and at one point it was registering nearly 120db. Now, I don't know about you but that's loud, way too loud.
Put him behind a plexi-glass barrier?  (Or if that doesn't work, put the barrier between him and his drums? :D )
