Making Music

I have no idea what this dude is singing about but I just love the sound that these 3 make together

I must be getting old and out of touch, I could not find one redeeming quality in the music of that video.
I dig it too.  Nice groove, and I dig that guitar sound.  Very American indie rock circa 1995-2000, but in Japanese.
I like this one better.  But I'm in a pretty deep mellow phase right now.

It would never hold up to repeat listenings for me but it was cool the first go 'round. The drummer is slick, has a Stewart Copeland thing going on.

+1 again I'm afraid Jon.

However, like Kabala, I found the drummer pretty Stuart Copeland like.

Have listen to this Vidhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K97eOH2jvCk. Stuart swaps with the regular tour drummer at about 6.30 mins. Vid and sound quality are poor but the cool thing was........I WAS THERE!!!!! Balcony, second row, dead center!!

After that gig, Alvin Lee, Andy powell and Leslie West became required listening for me and really showed me that a blues background is SO important for the rock/rock'n'roll player.
Sorry guy's, Ignore that link and try this one....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K97eOH2jvCk

Yes, I've always been a fan of all of those, but my tastes are wider than that and the japanese band just has a really firey in your face vibe to it and I love it.  I absolutely refuse to mellow out just because I'm getting older. I just love music that grabs you by the balls.  It's not about lyrics or any particular instrument for me, it's the whole thing as a unified sound.

By the way, no need to apologise, if you don't like it, then that's fair enough....I'm simply saying I do like it, that's all  :)

damn, are you becoming an old fart Rich  ;D
Hey, cheers to you, Jon, for being somewhat open-minded.  There is a whole lot of really good music out there that goes beyond the same old tired idioms, and you can find it if you look for it.  Unfortunately, most people here have already decided what they like...
They don't make music like they used to  ;)
Not bad....anyway good things sounds different..  ;D

Have you noticed the public? It seems marble ... I'm wondering why...  ;D  ;D

I agree with that Copeland drum thing.

I'm a sucker for punk - grew up with it.

So I like - it is interesting as it is raw - but has some more elegant angles to it from later.
the drums/groove obviously - some of the riffs a reminiscent of later stuff.

Earlier punk was more a wall and influenced by RnR bands

these current guys are influenced by what went before them since.

I have a friend of mine who used to actually feed the Police before they made it big, he is a producer in LA area now, although when I knew him back in the day he was fresh out of Berkelee School Of Music, and later a gigging musician. Anyways he is good friends with Copeland, and I hear all of the inside stories about the Police from the early days to this last tour. I did not know that The Police is owned by Copeland and his brother. Sting was the primary songwriter but he don't own any rights to the Police brand name. I get to hear all of those stories when I visit him in Beverly Hills. I always liked Andy Summers playing, and of course I liked Copelands playing, I never really got into Stings voice except he was a smokin lyric writer, all in all I never really dug Punk much at all.

I got stuck in the Guitar God years and never went past that really. Although I am a big fan of keyboard players and bass players, but it is drummers that really kill me these days.

I started in music singing baritone in a Doo Wop group in the 1950's and 1960's. So I have always been into melodic playing and singing. Never liked punk or Grunge or any of that. Still don't care for it much. There is some interesting stuff going on in the young folk these days, I have to listen to some of it because my niece Grace and I have envisioned an album project, so I have to assess some of the cover tunes she wants to do.

The Police were a good pop band very melodic and whiteboy reggae fused with jazz - definitely not punk.

I am curious - what did you think of The Doors - that would be your era ?

Probably - I'm a child of the 60's/70's/80's I suppose!  ;D  - but I just didn't like the clip & it sounded like tuneless noise to me! - so I guess I must be an old fart now after all!  :'(

I never really liked the Doors that much, I was into Cream, the Beatles, Hendrix, and lots of American and Brit groups back then, I still have mostly 60's music on my MP3 Player, Stones, ZZ Top, Cream, Beatles, Allmans, Hendrix, Santana, I do have some later Peter Frampton. Also the Dixie Dregs, (I listen to those guys a lot) Dire Straights, and more of that kind of stuff. Guitar oriented rock mostly. I also have some old blues guys on the old player like Howlin Wolf, BB King, and others.

Welcome to the club, it ain't fun, all we  have to talk about to each other is our doctors, procedures, and prescriptions. However on a positive note, I have not given up on my health. I watch my diet and exercise regularly.
