I've got another week off before I go to Melbourne to get ready to get married.. and I'm a bit bored...
I'm looking at guitar 'intros' to work on; as opposed to a whole song.. One example I'm thinking of is sleep when I'm dead by Bon Jovi - but I can't find the tab anywhere (can anyone help???) and I'm not great lerning by ear for complicated stuff...
So any other suggestions for guitar intro's???
Thanks....
'Whatever you want' by Status Quo - I think that has to be one of the best guitar intro's I've ever heard! (Tip: Use a drop D on the bottom E string)
Actually, whilst typing this, the intro to an oldie of theirs came to mind too - very 'classic retro' that's good for getting your fingers and timing going without being overly complex - check out a track called 'Little Blue Eyed Lady' (- off the 'Hello' album I think)
And try the intro to 'Down Down' - Quo's only UK number one, which is played in open G tuning and has a great feel to it.
Contrary to the popular myth that they only play three chords, a lot of Quo's stuff is very much more complex and well-structured than it might first sound - Francis Rossi is actually an excellent lead guitarist, and Rick Parfitt was classically trained and plays tons of stuff in open tunings! And both are very good song writers - otherwise they wouldn't have survived all this time in such a fickle business!!
Rich ;)
BTW mate, many congrats on the forthcoming wedding - we expect to see some wedding pics of the happy couple ! ;)
If you can find a few alarm clocks you could work on Time by Pink Floyd...

Just wait till you get married if you think you are bored now.

Yeah - and make sure you take your guitar for the honeymoon and especially the wedding night - I mean, what else are you going to do with your time - there's bugger all on TV at the moment! ;D ;D
;D
Claire's already expressed concern that I'm oing to invite people back to the cottage (on the grounds) that we're staying at that night... Hilarious....
Come to think of it; she does have a few good looking friends......
Back on topic.... I'm after the clasic bluesy intro's. Jump on I tunes guys and download a song called Automobile by The Fumes... Or Sit On My Knee by Dallas Crane (and Jimmy Barnes)
I've also worked on Nothing but a good time (Poison) and (Rich!!!!) Sleeping on the Sidewalk by Queen...
Hi TTBB,
just fews ideas... :)
Joe Bonamassa : "Bridge to better days" , "A new day yesterday", "One of these days"
Yes : "Owner of a lonely heart"
ToTo : "Hold the line" and "Gift of faith"
Ciao !
Marco
....another one from ToTo.. I think it's a killer intro guitar part:
Caught in the balance
Ciao!
Marco
Hey mate...
Hold the line is not what I'm looking for; (eben that I can work out by ear.....!!!!!!!)
But the other Toto song I'm downloading; and looking into the other ones.
Thanks....
Every Triumph song. They all have pretty intros.
"Panama." What a great intro. Likewise "Top Jimmy" and "Unchained."
