The Watering Hole

Same rehearsal rooms (Mushroom Farm Rehearsal Studios) 30 minutes drive from here.

I mic'd the drum kit this time with x2 Beyerdynamic M160 ribbon mics about 15ft in front of the kit with the mics 6 inches off the floor and then x1 dynamic mic on the snare top and x1 dynamic mic on the kick batter side, all mixed to taste

Guitar, Helix straight in to the Roland Octacapture and then re-mic'd later into a small PA to give it some air.

We monitored everything using in-ears so that the guitar was only in the in-ears to get the best drum recording I could in the room.

There is also a video of Oliver on the kit for this session. I uploaded it to youtube and within 5 minutes they put a copyright block on me. Why they singled us out I don't know considering how many other covers there are out there.

Thanks Marco.  My guitar work is a bit off here and there, especially at the beginning and the guitar sound was a bit too bright then too, but other than that I think it turned out pretty well.

Lol, yes he does whack the bell a bit (that almost sound rude, lol again) I've mentioned to him a few times to ease up on the cymbal hits, having said that I think his drumming overall is excellent. He takes grade 8 with Trinity college London next year and that's the highest grade there is.

Yes he is in a couple of bands and they play local pubs and clubs etc. I'm really pleased that he loves it so much, plus of course I get a free drummer to Jam with :)

Cool, The reason I ask is that I would be interested in hearing some of that stuff if it is available.  Maybe Dad can get a Pirate recording or something. :o  I don't care the genre.  Just curious.

I hope to record them soon.  A mixture of heavy classic rock and more modern styles
