Here's another one we recorded this just today. Drums and guitar played together "live" in Oliver's bedroom.
Here's the recording process:
- Zoom H6 stereo pair of mics picking up the roland drums (from the sound system, no DI from the kit) and the guitar in the room.
- SM57 into it's own channel on the H6 a couple of inches off the grill. Mixed this in with the room stereo pair to add some focus to the guitar.
- import the project from the Zoom H6 into Reaper
- I played bass guitar and tracked that in Reaper whilst listening to the tracks from the H6.
- added a big of reverb on the guitar sm57 track on automation just to spread things out a bit occasionally, mostly dry though.
Guitar is Epiphone Les Paul in humbucker mode. Amp is Jet City JCA22H with very little distortion, a fairly cleanish tone in fact but cranked via the THD Hotplate.
- No post eq to the zoom h6 tracks other than a 40hz high pass. Everything else is as it was recorded.
So for you pain, here it is in all it's 11 and a half minutes of glory. This goes off in a few directions just as we felt like it ect. Oliver reacts well to what I play and I try to do the same against what he is doing too.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings, here it is

p.s: I tried my best to avoid dropping clangers here and there, but mistakes have been left in as it was "live" this is a true representation of what actually happened today :)
