not really finished (still has frankenjam parts and stuff)... but here's something I've been doing lately. I'm unlikely to do any more with it for a while (sick of it), so thought I'd see what you guys thought of it.

Man have I been there before, know exactly where you're coming from! I think feeling fed up with a piece you're working on is a good thing though...means you need/want to finish it at the same time those creative juices have you wanting to move on to the next thing already. A nice problem to experience.

Anyway, might be partially because it's early in the day at work, just got a cup of coffee, only one here in the office at the moment, quiet, etc, but I enjoyed that a lot, was mellow but kept my interest all the way through with interesting changes. Were the spacey/dreamy notes at 2:40-3:00 a synth plug-in of sorts or did you pull that off with the guitar and a delay? Really cool whatever it was, and if fits the tune well.

derek

that was slide (guitar) with some delay :)

it doesn't quite fit there, though - the "start it like stairway" lead after it doesn't make sense to me with that as a lead-in.

there are lots of bits that don't quite fit or are too long/short - it doesn't flow. more like a vaguely themed power point presentation of ideas than a song at this point. if I get that stuff worked out, I think it has some potential - there are parts I like a lot but only on their own... creating the context for everything is eluding me.

it worked better as a 2:00 jam with stuff crammed in but I'm trying to move toward a bit longer "songs"... proving to be a difficult transition.

thanks for listening!
It's a great listen. At 2:45, the tinkling slide guitars just make me think of when Slash does that in the bridge of Welcome to the Jungle.  A real highlight for me is the rhythm guitar tone and line that comes out of the solo and finishes the song, that is one moody, dark, tremolo-y line.  If I had a criticism it would be the overall darkness of the guitars in comparison to the drums... just a little more sparkle on the rhythm guitars would be great.  Fun to listen to though, goes places.
thanks for listening!

I bumped up the highs on the drums a bit thinking I needed to fill that space with something just for the sake of filling it.
sounded better before - that's what I get for watching the fft instead of going with what I'm hearing, always end up regretting it yet I can't resist! heh.

also, the Avatar samples in superior - they have a snappy bright thing and it doesn't always work (unsurprisingly). I need to spend some time tweaking it I guess - not really appealing but probably about time I got around to it.
There's something magic in this song. It's a joy for my ears !
Thanks for sharing !

Ciao!
Marco

too kind - glad you liked it! thanks for listening

remix likely soon, I think it's a little better but giving it some time to sink in to be sure.
remix version - same tune, a few different drums and less reverb.
