Making Music

2 weeks ago my band 'Midnight Sun' had its debut gig at the Builders Arms as part of the Barnet Music Festival raising money for the Noah's Ark Childrens home.

The game plan was to mike up the amp through the PA so I figured I didn't need my big Vox rig (2x12 combo plus 2x12 extn cab) and just took my 1x12" Marshall JCM2000 DSL401.

When we got there they were having some trouble with the PA and it couldn't take the extra load from the amps - so I had to play pure backline.  With only a 1x12" and an open-air event I thought I was going to have problems with volume and cutting through the mix ...but I needn't have worried as my DSL401 performed admirably and I was no where near maxing it out.

We played a good dozen or so numbers - here's a few clips:

Way cool Rich. I liked it a bunch. Keep on doing what you are doing amigo, it can only get better, even though it is pretty darn good as is.
Thanks DBM - glad you liked the vids.   :)

Just caught up with your Soundclick site - really liked your latest stuff esp. lady lady lady I got the blues for you (nice tone/playing) & good luck cowboy (real little toe tapper!).  And who's the girl singing on New York State of Mind?...terrific bluesy voice!

Thanks Rich, the girl singer is my wife's niece Grace Evans http://www.reverbnation.com/graceevans Every time she shows up here, I do a cover tune with her. She lives in Northern California, but her and her mom visit my mother in law who lives in our community a half mile away from here.
Just been listening to Grace's tracks - very nice stuff, including a couple of cool vids.  Talented girl, vocals, writes, drums, keys - and pretty too, which certainly doesn't hurt in the music business ;)
Thanks Rich. I think Grace is forming an all female band, at least that is the last thing I heard. And one of the other gals is also a stunner (looks wise). I don't interact with Grace very much, she lives 875 miles away from us, and of course as a young woman has her own agenda which only allows a little time for the old uncle (even if he is a good producer).
Well I wish her all the best with the new all-girl project (I must admit I didn't think the guitarist in the vids was doing much for her)
