Had a tryout for a new band last night.

They gave me a list of 15 tracks to learn a week ago and, I have to say they are very diverse and on the whole, very different from the stuff I've done with bands before. Also, 5 of the numbers are original songs. Didn't have time to learn more than 4 or 5 before last night but managed to get the tracks burned to CD in a format that would play in the van so I could at least listen to them before heading up there.

SO....Last night comes round and I get to the room about 5 minutes late due to traffic  ::), to find everyone else in the same boat. OK, This is looking good as the nerves and general panic disperse as I realise I don't look bad for being late.

Handshakes and introductions all round are done and we get set up.......(First time for me using the pedalboard outside the house BTW).

4 hours later...I'M IN!!!! And, the best bit is, they reckon my sound and general feel is at least on a par with thier regular guitarist. who is none other than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurence_Archer  8-).

No, I'll never live up to what this guy is capable of but they liked what I did so, WTF.....I'm happy.

Laurence was not there last night as he is away until the next rehersal date so we'll see how it goes when he's back, but as UFO (and in paticular, Mr Schenker) are the reason I gave up all my other instruments to concentrate on guitar, I can't see me being too willing to spout off about what I can and can't do to the guys face.

As I said, as far as the others are concerned, I've done enough to earn my place, which is a nice feeling after all the other shit that's happened over the last couple of years.

(BIG BREATH.............)

I'll Keep you posted.
