Trying to get away from the negative stuff :)

Ok this is just a test clip, not my material :)  Some of you might recognize the riff.  I am trying out Two Notes' Wall of Sound for my cab sim/impulse now.  I got irritated with Recabinet because it's so dark.  The settings I would have to dial on my amp made no sense in the real world.  so far, WoS gets me much closer to matching what I hear out of my real cabinet in the room.

This started as just playing to a click track to dial in the sound, then I added drums and bass after.  Once I added the drums I realized how I was rushing the guitar part.  Oh well...  just a tone test anyway.

Sounds good to me. I've always liked the two notes stuff, lots of options for moving mics around and eq and compression and stuff.
Thanks Jon :)  yeah the Two Notes stuff is pretty cool.
sounds great to me! didn't notice the rushing you mentioned.
Sounds great to me too!  ;)
thanks guys  :)
Sounds killer to me.
Mmm...  Chewy!  Me likey.  I wouldn't mind hearing that on a better system.  On my PC speakers & sub it sounded a bit too in the middle (so some things were stepping on each other just a little).  That said, I'm sure I could waste a few hours doing absolutely nothing productive at all with that tone!  :D
This does sound very good.  At the end the riff reminds me of Slayer... I love that.

I've noticed recabinet is dark too.  I use it for rough tracks--along with the headcase amps, which are great, especially if you like heavy-- but I always end up reamping through real amps.  You can't beat the price on recabinet though, I think I got it for $19.  How much is the twonotes?
The base plugin is free, comes with 2 cabs, a 2x12 (dunno the model) and a 4x12 Marshall with v30's).  From there you can audition and add cabs as you like.  Each cab seems to be about $9.  I've purchased 2 additional cabs and you hear a blend of both in that clip, the Mesa 4x12 (traditional I think, versus oversized) and the Engl 4x12.  Both with v30's.

and thanks :)
the 2 x 12 is a HiWatt with Fanes in it.

I have,
The CAE 4 x 12 with Greenbacks in it
The Cali 4 x 12
2 of the 3 Marshall 2 x 12s  V30s and Greenbacks
and the Fender Utah 1 x 12

I really like WOSIII is very handy.
I use the Ribbons mainly the 121 at 2.5" and the 160 at 14.5" or 38.5"

good clip there Paul, I think its there.... time to record
I think that sounds great.  Will listen with a higher res system tonight.
I think it sounds great, Paul.  But, what do I know, I'm new here.
Hey new guy!  :)
Hey Paul, Question...

Are you using your Mini Recto and nixing your cab and subbing the WOS III cabs.

I saw that they have power amp sims.  Just curious.  So you're not using a dummy load, you have the speaker out there parting your hair.

Just try to see what you are doing.
Woot, welcome back Dean.  Lame post count :P

I am using the line out of a THD Hot Plate.  It works great, as I can still put a decent level out to my Avatar 2x12 speaker for feedback, etc...  Got the latency low enough were it ends up sounding almost like a fast slapback thru the monitors, so it works well.  Can also turn off the Avatar altogether, etc...

As far as WoS, I don't use the power amp section, since I am using the power section of the mini.  That said, I could probably also get a great sound tapping off the fx loop and then using the power amp section of WoS.  Richard uses it in a manner similar to this as he uses the Randall modular system for preamps.  I like my setup as I can just walk in the room and play without turning on the computer or changing cables around, or if the computer is on I can hit record at any time...

It's pretty flexible that way :)
yup use the Power amp section of WOSIII and love it, you do have to kick the volume of the poweramp in the ass to get good low end. 20db+  depending on cab and tone coming in.

Signal is Gtr > Boosta Grande > Randall RM4 > E-mu 1212 > WOS III.

One question--can you audition cabs before you buy them?  Doing the math, with each cab costing (currently) 11.10 USD, the total for the plugin with all cabs is $610.50.  That's steep--would be the most expensive plugin in my arsenal. So an audition/demo function would be handy--as would a "pack" where you could buy a bunch of them for lower cost.  Any of those out there?  I don't want to go down a rabbit hole and end up with something very expensive...  Recabinet is dark, but I got it for $20... I can add a 5k shelf eq for free... Alternatively, can't I run the power amp model in the free version, into recabinet, and add EQ after to bring up the high end?  Is the plugin technically free if you don't buy any cabs?
you can audition cabs it goes mute for a couple seconds every minute or so. and you can only use 1 mic at a time but you can change power amp settings mic position the post fx section with the cabs you are auditioning.

I have have 7 bought cabs (6gtr 1 bass), each cab when I got them cost 9 buck and some change, but the last cab I bought was back in December.  To me its very much get a cab when you can, no need to get them all at once.

as to a pack I havent seen any.

as to the power amp into recab tried it didnt work very well at all for me. but might work different for you.
Anyone tried their BlendIR?  Free impulse creation, blending, eqing with output in their format?  I think they've got a user repository for impulses too.  I'm going to check that out.
no I havent, I been using their cabs only.  Sorta tired of chasing the IR tails around the studio... and their stuff fits where I am at tonally well.
