Have a listen to this guys - especially the all-tube purists out there. Just a little 30w amp mic'd up, but the modelling and effects have been upgraded, with 22 awesome amp models, 66 pre-sets (inc 22 signature sounds) and an 8-patch user memory.
You'd be hard pushed to find a better bang for your buck anywhere - the Line 6 & Peavey Vypyr sound crap in comparison.

I'm tempted to get one myself!

It sounds just OK. My old Digitech GNX2 into my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe sounds way better, and it is all paid for already. The demo sounds suspiciously like my Tonelab. Truth be told I use the GNX2 for one patch and I have a switching device to switch back to my stomps which I like a bunch better. I have never used the Tonelab for anything but a recording preamp. The modeling amps and modelers have this harsh hissing that bothers me. Plus I don't use any compression at all (Except for recording) and that demo was loaded with hiss & compressed sounds. I would never use that thing, so no use in me thinking about it.
Haha!! Love when he stuttered on the Police riff... Cool to see that tha didn't det edited out. The Dream Theater intro he played sounded pretty good, tone wise. When he kicked the overdrive in though, well, even my kid plays a more convincing Petrucci. But I notice that dude seems much more comfy in the bluesier styles.
Truthfully, I did not like high gain sounds in this demo at all. Very fizzy, not really useable. But, that could simply be the presets, the fact that it is a little 1x12 combo and the mic. My TLSE used to kick out some brutal high gain when dialed in right and plugged into a tube power amp and a 4x12.
The clean and mid gain stuff on this sounded really good to me though.
Actually, it's only a 1x10" combo - I don't know why they didn't make it a 1x12" this time round. I'm not a high gain player myself - I just really liked the cleans & crunches.
I'm with Spai regarding the heavier tones. But...the fact that it has a 10" speaker tells all about that. It does sound really good in the bluesy-to-clean tones.
If they come out with a higher wattage head that can run 2x12 and 4x12 cabs....the heavier tones might indeed be very good. Certainly a new product we can be excited about......esp for the pricetag.
Maybe the video quality but the mid and high gain sounds are not so good..
Rich, do you know what happened to the announced Black Diamond ???
Ciao!

Vox announced several months back that it wasn't going to put the prototype into production. The combination of needing further development & the cost issues in the current economy meant Vox waited to long ... a case of too little too late.
At least the new VT's utilise some of the BD's technology that will give the 'chrome' series an extended lease of life.
I haven't played a VT yet - I'll probably have to wait until my local store has them in. The mid/high gains need a bigger speaker - the average quality 'Vox own' 10" speaker isn't getting the best out of the modelling.

The clean sounds were very "bleh". I guess I expected more from your intro... to at least hear something new and fresh. I've heard all those sounds in other modelers and modeler amps. The efx made up for it on a few sounds. Pretty solid efx for a modeller amp. But the modeled clean tones were not doing much for me.
The distorted sounds were really poor, IMO. Really fizzy and hashy. Especially when he did that "Still of the Night" intro--I think that was the song. The fizz almost obscured the notes of the riff. It's got nothing on my SpiderValve. Then again, it's probably cheaper, maybe he used the wrong mic, maybe he miced it poorly, etc, etc. I have never liked Vox's amp modeling, and this hasn't changed my opinion.
Thanks for the info, Rich !
i think ill stick to my Axe-fx ;)
Well, I might find out over Xmas what this amp is like as a friend has one & I may be able to borrow it for a while. Might even do a you-tube clip of my own.
