Hi,
just recorded a (boring) clip to check my sounds. What do you think ?
Thanks !

Ciao!
Marco
tasty as heck, both in tone and playing!
Thanks all ! ;)
Probably I've some issue with my headphones and/or my audiocard. Listening to the mp3 using my headphones (AKG 241 Monitor) plugged into the HD's out, the sound is really convincing, while thru the monitor cabs ( plugged to the pc audiocard) the sound is dark/muffled.
But what make me crazy is that thru the iPod or a mini-hifi the same mp3 sounds thin and fizzy...
Maybe it's just a "sign"! I've Stopped playing live, I've stopped playing in band...it's arrived the moment to stop to record my noise also.. ;)
Ciao!
Marco
Hi Marco,
I'm finding that by far the best results are had by using impulse cabinets. Create your patch in the HD with NO cabinet and then use an impulse cab inside reaper or whatever DAW you use. Really does sound like a real amp then. I'm not that keen on the line6 modelled cabs, they have never sounded "right" to me, always have a "not quite there" feel about them.
thank you Jon, I'll try with the IR cabs! Which host do you suggest for the IR wav files ?

I use voxengo pristine space, but there are quite a few about and all seem to do a good job.
in addition to a nice tune... this thread revealed that there is a font size option in the post box.
I never noticed!
lol
Sounds Ok to me good playing and nice tone.
Awesome piece of music - all of it, tone, vibe, etc. Congrats.
Thanks guys !!
DTR, I would like to share this patch but I don't know how to do it !!!
I've downloaded and installed the editor but I've not used it yet.. :)
Ciao!
Marco
Marco,
the editor is where it's at! You'll LOVE that thing! A full computer screen shot of any aspect of the POD with complete control over them all on the screen. I NEVER edit the thing from the board itself. Always hook up the laptop and do all patches and adjustments, except for when I use them live.
So, open HD500 Edit. If this is the tone setup that is currently open in your POD, it will automatically open it in Edit. Then its a simple "file" "save as" and you're done. That's your patch. ;)
Again though, boy are you opening a whole new world once you start using the Edit. It's fantastic! The new bias and sag features make it even better. (Plus I usually turn the hum all the way down).
DreamTheaterRules — Jun 30, 2011The new bias and sag features make it even better. (Plus I usually turn the hum all the way down).
Elaborate on that Howie. You can set the BIAS and Sag as if you were using a tube amp? Plus what is the Hum feature? Tell me more.
yes and yes. :) The new version of Edit added Bias and Sag controls for every amp. And boy do they make a difference!!! Jon has just started playing with them but I know he's really digging them as well. Lance is well familiar with them. Also, L6 had people complaining that the amps had hum when turned up. They responded that yes, and that's because the amps they modeled did and to be true to the amps, they included the hum. They added a feature where you can turn the hum down on the amps in response to the complaints.
The bias and sag are really cool though. I find myself turning the bias up on almost every amp. The sag is a "taste" or "what you are going for" or "what works best with this amp" thing. Sometimes you want more, sometimes less...
If you have an HD500 and haven't hooked it up to a computer and used Edit, you don't know what you are missing. Wait til Marco get's a chance to try and and he'll confirm as well.
ALL of my patch tweaking is done on the computer, in Edit. Then save to the device and it's ready to go!
They even modeled the flaws? That's funny. Dumb, but funny.
It is kind of funny, because at first they were sort of touting the accuracy of the modeling by saying something like "we even matched the hum of the original." Then when people complained and said they didn't want the hum, they put the control on edit to turn it down.
Thanks Howie, I do not have the HD Pod yet (if ever), but it seems like it is a good item anyways. As for tweaking with the edit program, I would use that immediately. Back in the 1980's I had 30 synths and samplers and I could edit all of them on the software, so I ain't afraid of using software for editing, in fact the edit proggies for modelers are simple in comparison to the old synth editing software, real easy to use and understand, and absolutely necessary for fine editing.
DreamTheaterRules — Jun 28, 2011Love it! Patch please!!!
Thanks for the info DTR !
Here there's the patch. ;)

No kidding! I had a couple with manuals that were almost two inches thick and you almost needed a PhD to be able to understand them! :o
CraigBert — Jun 30, 2011They even modeled the flaws? That's funny. Dumb, but funny.
They have done this since the beginning if you remember correctly. People were complaining (perhaps you, myself, and many more here back in the days) that modeling the deficiencies was kind of stupid. Why not ignore the bad stuff and make the good stuff better? The "accuracy" issue was always the explanation given by Line 6 to much of our chagrin.
Yeah, one time my XT was snap crackle popping, and when I emailed support, they told me they had modeled an old guitar cable that was shorting out. ;D
Well as long as they give you the option to do away with the flaws that is OK with me. I am really tempted to purchase one. I have a job interview Tuesday, and if it works out I am back in the G.A.S biz for a while......
(you know that was a joke about the bad guitar cable modeling, right? ;))

Yeah but the hum did not seem to be a joke......
Umm, this sound is incredible. And the touch sensitivity? Right past the halfway point you come back in with some really soft stuff... only place I've heard touch sensitivity like that is from a real amp...

The touch sensitivity is definitely one of the things that really impressed me. I'm not sure how L6 managed to accomplish it now since they couldn't really get it right before. I guess with the new chip technology, they've had more space to properly map the characteristics of the sound between lightly hitting the strings and slamming on them.

Not forgetting that they probably did a lot of reverse engineering of the AxeFX firmware to see how they did it :-)
