You still using the X3 Live? How is it holding up? I kinda want one but have "X3 Live defect phobia".
Disclaimer: A lot of people assume I'm a Line 6 Kool-Aid drinker, but I come by my repeat Line 6 use because as a gigging musician, the stuff works great, gives me consistent tone, and hasn't broken down. I've been using their gear at gigs since 1999, and no unit has ever failed at a show.
To answer your question regarding the X3 Live, I wouldn't worry about the quality any more than any other piece of gear - I had one with a bad pedal (I bought mine when they first shipped), sent it back to Line 6 and they replaced it quickly (got the new one within a week), and it's been rock solid ever since, through about 50 gigs.
I don't particularly care for the X3's plastic construction, but I've really stomped on it and it hasn't had any issues (and I weigh about 225-230). The biggest issue I have is that I have big, sort of wide feet, and if I'm wearing wide-soled shoes (a la work boots or cross-trainers), I sometimes have to be careful where I step.
It sounds great, is super-flexible, and hasn't let me down...I just wish it had the metal case of the XT Lives.
I will say the interface takes a little getting used to if you've been using Vettas and XTs - it doesn't work exactly like a lot of Line 6's previous products, which I saw initially as a bad thing, but now that I'm used to the way it works, I actually like it.
I keep going back and forth about going back to using a bass amp, and I keep using my X3 Live, simply because it sounds great and it's much easier to carry.
Plus it powers my Variaxes...

You're a funny man, Craig...
