I have always used a pod are something direct before until recently.
I now record bass by pluggin into my classic C30, but keeping the volume
fairly low to ensure I don't fuck up the speaker etc and then micing the amp.
With a little post eq in protools it just brings it alive....so much better than direct.
I'll post some examples in a day or so.
we tried using a C30 at WHstock/Bertapalooza for a bass. It was thumping the speaker like you wouldn't believe! I'd say you'd have to keep it turned down to avoid that.

err, that's what I said "

LOL, I was just "confirming" that thought. ;)
I think you would need to turn the volume down on the C30 to not fuck up the speaker.
I'm certainly no expert on recording, C30's, speakers, etc., but I agree!
Wait... Since bass comes from frequencies that are really slow, maybe you should use your 6" speaker instead? ;)

the frequncy is low....i think it's the modulation of the frequncy that is slow ;-)

Excellent idea, I had never thought of that before ;)
I've done some research on the interwebnet, (which is always right) and the prevailing wisdom seems to be that it would a good idea to keep the volume down so as not to "Schmotzer" the speaker.
