ok, there's still some tweaking to do (some phase fizz or something going on, too much gain to the power tubes, mic choices etc)... but man, these IRs really sound like my T75 and V30 just without my closet "reverb" and through much better mics. maybe I'll get some ammo for my starter pistol and get an impulse of my closet! ;)
the speaker impedance IRs make all the difference imo - sounds so much more real to me without all that full range stuff (lows and highs) they have w/o it.
totally usable for tunes, I think... going to get quiet around here from now on, heh.
* should point out... this clip isn't "awesome" or anything. but it IS as good or better than any other recording I've done of the uber (soundwise) - they always sound kinda eff'ed up out of a mix.
Excellent. Funny thing is, things are getting louder around here, just got the mic's out and I'm back to mic's now. No messing about with this, find the spot, stick the mic there and record....heaven. I've come home again ;D
Sheep what is the chain there? And may I have the exact name of the impulse response you used? I want to give it a try too (I have the library here).
prs -> uberschall -> hotplate -> onyx -> iMac (logic)
incoming track -> tape delay plugin (15% mixed in, 100% dry though) -> vol zero, pre out to bus 1 and 2
bus 1 (full left): signal -> v30 ImpCurve-100 -> Uberkab-v30-R121-CapEdge-4in -> high cut (10kHz) -> low cut (81Hz) -> send to bus 3 at -17 dB
bus 2 (full right): signal -> G12T75-ImpCurve-100 -> Uberkab-T75-U67-Cap-3in -> high cut (10kHz) -> low cut (81Hz) -> send to bus 3 at -17 dB
bus 3: Samplicity's "Gold Hall" M-to-S
Sounds incredibly real !
Maybe these Redwirez IR worths a try.....also on the pod. ;)
Ciao!
Sheep these are ok:
v30 ImpCurve-100
Uberkab-v30-R121-CapEdge-4in
G12T75-ImpCurve-100
Uberkab-T75-U67-Cap-3in
I have them all here. Yet I can't figure out which plugin you used for the IR's. Can you tell me pls?
space designer - it's a Logic reverb plugin that can use IRs - I didn't alter them with it though, it's only acting as host - shouldn't be effecting the sound.
So in this case,
1- v30 ImpCurve-100 -> Uberkab-v30-R121-CapEdge-4in = SERIAL
2- G12T75-ImpCurve-100 -> Uberkab-T75-U67-Cap-3in = SERIAL
1 and 2 = PARALLEL
Am I getting it right?
serial/series... yeah. without the stereo cab thing, it's like this:
audio input -> mono delay (100% dry + 15% wet) -> IR plugin (mix 100% wet, 0% dry) -> IR plugin (mix 100% wet, 0% dry) -> high cut -> low cut -> output.
the two "mics" are parallel in the sense that they're panned left and right to separate them in the mix but they are essentially two instances of the above - not one long chain.
