It's really just a quickie tone check. Sometimes I get carried away making stand alone amp/guitar clips and then I start thinking "yeah, sounds aight, but to what end? It has to sound right in a mix."
I only feel like my time has been wasted when I watch a YouTube "demo" that is 75% talking. ;)
(but from the tweaker standpoint, I definitely get your point)
I used to enjoy the YT gear demo stuff but eventually it got lame. It became something else, too many of them were not legit "demos" but rather some dime-a-dozen hack posing as a gear/tone guy really just wanting anyone to listen to them wank away. You're right sheep...can't stand the over explanations and stumbling talk. Just play a little, turn the knobs, play some more, swap guitars, play some more, say "thanks for watching, post specific questions and I'll try to answer!" :D
