Been working on smoothing out my powerslop solo style. So for shits and giggles, I finally learned the solo to 'Here I Go Again' by Whitesnake. Always wanted to know it...so.
Anyhoo....It's pretty easy technically. But what I love about it is John Sykes' fluidity.
Even if you hit all the notes in time, it's really easy to make this solo sound bad. Sykes' style was so damn smooth and fluid. So if yer looking for something fun to practice on, try it.

Next up to learn is the solo to 'Wait' by White Lion. Vito Bratta is another player with insanely fluid chops. After that, I'm gonna finally learn....note for note....''Decadence Dance' by Extreme. Nuno was insane on that Cd. With the amount of time it's gonna take me to get that down, my next project will be just to drink. Heavily.

I'm sure you'll do it fluidly though.
The solo from Wait is awesome, Vito Bratta was such agood player, I just never could stand the bands vocalist. I saw them live here in Jax opening up for AC/DC and it was pretty sad, I mean what kind of a match is that? Poor guys never had a chance in front of a hard drinking blue collar AC/DC audience.
The funny thing is that the solo from Here I go Again is actually Adrian Vandenberg...  I could be wrong but I seem to remember that...  There is marked difference in the tone and (I think) the playing style between that and the other solos on that album...

Nice solos to learn for sure...
Johnny - post a clip for us once you're happy with it!

Johnny,

less smooth, but two of my Sykes favs are Still Of The Night, and Crying In The Rain.

I strongly advise you not tackle either of those after drinking though. Unless it's some Jolt or Red Bull  ;)
