Do you ever find that you keep meaning to change your strings and then say..."oh I'll do it tomorrow" and then before you know it quite some time has passed by and everything you play sounds like shit and the guitar feels like shit, and then you change the strings and "wow....I can play again"  :)
My strat is at the shite stage now.

Once the elasticity is gone and they won't stay in tune I usually change them the next Sunday morning.  :)

Edit: And then play half the life out in an afternoon...
I have 4 guitars that i use regularly,  I don't use any one of them more than once in every 4th day. So I can leave my strings on for a long time. As soon as one has that dead feel I change the strings on that one.
You're supposed to CHANGE the strings???!  :o

In a word- yup!  I've got 8 guitars that I play and have to change strings on (ex. my 2004 50th Strat that's still mint for investment & not played...yet! lol - but inc my Yamaha acoustic that's now been adopted by my daughter! - & that I've still got to restring!) - seems like I'm always changing strings on one or other so sometimes I get lazy!  ::)
My solution is just get more guitars... we've got 13 in the studio, and we're building four more... strings don't go bad all that fast when you have guitars all over the place...

Exactly what I've been telling my wife!! But she can't see it & has this ridiculous notion that its better & cheaper to change strings - she just doesn't get it!  ::)...wives are sooo dumb!!  :D ;D

+ 1 on the multiple guitars. You've got your toneful "babies" sitting there armed with fresh new strings for recordings and then there's your handful of 'good enough' guitars for daily fooling around - usually the ones sporting the old, crummy strings.
