Alright. So I took over the Bad News Bears of drumlines. As I stated in another thread, these monkeys couldn't even hold sticks properly. Technique was shit and the whitest drumline you ever heard.
We go out yesterday and the little fuckers win the drum line award!!!!! Normally we just get packets with notes made by the judges, but this time I actually got to sit and talk with the judge and he had tons of nice things to say. He said I had the only Pit that had any technique and it pleased him to see a pit play with such proper technique.
My bass line whom is made up of rejects from other sections and kid with Asperger's Syndrome were the only bass line that understood how to interpret.....and charger will love this one......DYNAMICS!!!
He said in general most band's field two bands. The band and then the drum line. He was impressed beyond words that my kids played as a part of the band and not a separate entity.
The only criticism he could give me was that the basses weren't playing in the exact same part of the drum....which he said was just him being nit picky!!!!
It was nice to be able to explain to him where we started.....half way through the season when I took over.....and to see it pay off so quickly. I didn't think I'd see a drum award till next year at best....and even then that was just a pipe dream.
Man I'm glad I've signed on to do this because the intrinsic value has been ridiculous.
