hmmm, a capo at the first fret. I've not seen that before in the classical realm. Maybe I live a sheltered existence.
The capo originated several centuries ago in flamenco/spanish guitar style.

You're right Max. It's because this guy doesn't play classical, he plays Flamenco, and a capo is a very common thing in this style, these guys usually play with a capo on one of the first three frets.
True - He is not playing classical style.
John Williams is the epitome of classical guitar.

The reason I mentioned Segovia - even though he is probably considered the classical guitar great  his flamenco origins are obvious.
Segovia had a romantic flamenco/spanish flavour to his  playing and this guy reminds me of him - tone maybe - flamenco played on a high action classical rather than a conventional low action flamenco guitar.

The line between virtuosos in these two schools are slim anyway with lots of crossing.
