So I buy the Carvin 4x12 I had been watching. Like a complete dumbass, I never researched the model number of the cab. It is a V412-H. Turns out, it is a bass 4x12 cab. The only info I could find on it online was in an old Carvin ad from the 80's in which it is featured as part of a bass rig. It looks just like the 4x12 guitar cabs Carvin was making at the time, same dimensions and all. But, it is rated at 500 watts and the impedance is rated 4pw (I do not know what "pw" is or how it relates to ohms, if anyone here does, please fill me in).
It will be about a week before I can test the thing.
A buddy of mine was doing some work at the studio where I had the cab delivered. He saw it and remarked to my firend Dave that he had a Carvin cab that he would sell for $150. I bought it. it is a late 80's cab (with the carpet covering and smaller metal grill). He claims it has Greenbacks but these speakers do not look like Greenbacks, will be a few days before I can pop the speakers out of either cab and find out.
The V412-H bass cab is in mint condition, tolex looks like it was just armor-alled. I can't listen to either for a while, so who knows what I have actuall got.
If all 8 speakers in both cabs let me down, then slowly but surely I will start loading EV EVM12L's into them.
