Another thing I found.

If you're looking at the MacBooks...
Try to find a previous generation MacBook Pro with a TI Firewire chipset.
The newer units use a Ricoh FW chipset (known to be problematic with many FW audio interfaces).
After you update Bootcamp and tweak the system (disable WiFi/BlueTooth/Keyboard management/etc)... the previous generation of MacBook Pros make a good laptop DAW.
Add an Express Card eSATA controller... and record to a custom assembled eSATA HD for maximum performance (perpendicular-II HD in a nice eSATA enclosure).

Once you have DPC latency under control... and you've got the eSATA HD setup, the MBP works great with Sonar 8.
