Hi all...

After a little advice for my first original song.  I want a key change for a bluesy style slow jammer.....  It's in A and goes to the IV for the breaks - but stays in A for the chorus.  Sorta works....

But what is the correct way to do a key change....

I think the 2nd and 3rds and 6ths in the major scales should be minors; so would one of these be it????  Ie. B, C# or F# ????

Not completely sure about the key change part, but you are correct about the 2nd, 3rd and 6th being minors in a major scale (the 7th is diminished).

Does this help?

The most common is going out on the fifth, so in the key of A that would be E, but the fourth works as well. But that said, you can approach any other key with several to many approach chords, it may take some time to figure out the transition, but it can be done with some experimentation. You can also have some measures of drum approaches, and start again in any key you wish. There are a lot of different techniques. But if it sounds good, it is good.
Thanks guys....  This writing/recording your own songs thing is exciting....!!!!!!!!!
The one that sounds right.
