Not sure if any of you know this, but if you upload a stereo video, youtube always converts it to mono....until now.  By default it will play it back as mono, but if you add &fmt=18 to the end of the url it will play the video with stereo sound.

My examples

Me in mono  http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=k2qW8vZLStA

Me in Stereo http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=k2qW8vZLStA&fmt=18

Now I'm just trying to work out how to get them to default to playing in stereo from within my Youtube page.

Thanks for the info Jon! :)

I've tried on my videos and it works !!

I'll search for the options to put the final string as default !

P.S. I was thinking that using the sunglasses at home was an Italian prerogative.....ah the globalization... :D :D

Noice!  :)

Now I'm off to find the 4D, 6.1 Surround setting...  :D

LOL, the sunglasses thing was not for effect.  I was using a floodlight to ensure I got plenty of light for the camera, and it was so damn bright that I used the sun-glasses.

I'll check out your video when I get home.

I just had a listen to yours in stereo Marco...really good stuff.   From what I've read it is not currently possible to auto-stream all youtube videos in stereo, unless you have a partner account or something like that...although they do say that default stereo is coming...about time too. It just makes such a difference to the whole experience.

By the way Marco, when are we going to see some video of you actually playing?
Thanks Jon !

I'll try some day to make a video. I would like to play with my usual rig (guitar-amp-sm57-reaper) but I can't figure how play in sync with two different devices (the cam and the DAW).
I've tried an USB webcam too with miserable results...as the webcam software crash due a conflict with the TonePort drivers...
Any idea / suggestion ??

Marco, I do it like this:

1. Record video and low quality audio on Canon Ixus still camera using video mode
2. Record high quality audio direct into the DAW
3. At the start of the recording I clap my hands to create a large spike in the audio in both the low quality
audio track and the high quality audio track.
4. Mix down the high quality audio track and then put that stereo mix into a new DAW session
5. Import the video into the new DAW session including the low quality audio track
6. Slide the high quality audio track so that the spike where I clapped my hands is in exactly the same place
as it is in the low quality audio track.
7. Mute the low quality audio track.
8. Render the video and high quality audio track to AVI
9. Finally, using windows video creator I add titles to the video and top & tail it (cut off the crap at the start
and end) and then export it to a WMV file.

It's a really simple process and gives excellent results
Thanks !! :)

I'll try !!
