Whrich two kits do you use most or recommend for rock and blues?
Hey Tobe,
I don't use Addictive Drums, but I have EZ Drummer 2. I checked out AD's offerings and it seems very similar to EZ Drummer.
I added an Americana EZX, which is like the add packs and I bought a blues Midi pack.
I saw that AD has a Blues Midi pack. You may take a look at the American Indie ADpak to see if that has some middle of the road kits and grooves for you.
I bought the Americana EZX for the reason of increasing the drums to choose from to use with the Blues midi.
FWIW
I grabbed the artist bundle on sale for $99. I will definately get the blues midi pack.
I am in the process of listening to their sound samples. Lots to wade through.
I have a bunch of ADpaks. If I were to buy only two, I'd go with Fairfax (I have fairfax 1) which is really top notch. I also really dig the stock set, tons of great sounds in there, and I use the black oyster, blue oyster, and retroplex pretty heavily, along with the indie and funk kits. Fairfax is my favorite though.
Thanks Charger. I got Fairfax 1 and the stock studio rock kits to start. Should cover us for now. I like several more a lot - in due time... Pretty sure my jam buddy wants to get Sonar platinum for his Daw which includes 3 more kits. probs overkill for us but all work and no play applies here.
Muchas gracias amigos!
What's really annoying is that after Addictive drums 1, they split a bunch of the older adpaks into multiples. So a couple of the Adpaks I bought with AD1 were split into three separate kits when it moved forward to AD2. For example, the 3 Studio kits were included with AD1, and the retroplex, blue oyster, and black oyster kits were a single "retro" adpak. I find that annoying, but I'm glad they grandfathered my kits in. Watch for deals, they have them often.
Too bad they split those up. i would probably use the pop and especially the studio prog kit. They saw a potential for some extra profit for the cost of changing samples to the new format. All in all happy customer here. Had a fine time dicking with it and jamming to some decent drums.
The acoustic pianos in addictive keys sound fantastic.
The other day I upgraded my Sonar to the the new Professional. I got The Blue Oyster AdPak on Charger's suggestion. I got the Ballad midi to futz with.
I played around with it for a bit, but haven't got back to it yet. There were a lot of new goodies that came with the Sonar upgrade to check out.
I had bought a new Windows 7 machine and a Focusrite Scarlett. My old junk was on it's last leg.
It's amazing How cheap an "Off Lease" computer is
I have been working on drums patterns and tracks in Reaper's midi editor. Trying to copy the drum tracks from songs we jam on. I was able to get the hit names to display in the reaper piano roll. That helped. Now I am building simple patterns and exporting them to load into AD. The patterns in the midi packs are good but always seem to need a little work. I will probably get the writers block pack for some ideas on intros and transitions.
