Anyone running A Core 2 Duo 2.2 Gig with Win 7 and X3?

I am thinking of upgrading to Win 7 and X3 from 8.3.5 Producer which is on on my old P4 XP Pro Box.

I have another computer which I am replacing tomorrow for office work with a Dell Intel i5. The old office box is a Antec Sonata case with Asus MoBo and an Intel Core 2 duo at 2.2 gigs processor speed, I can update the RAM for 64 bit X3 use to whatever it will run and as needed.

If that processor is not good enough for X3 I will just install an unused copy of XP Pro I still have and work it for audio use.

Hey DBM,

I just upgraded to Windows 7 on my DAW. It's a P4 2.4 Ghz. I had been running Pro Tools 7.4, and it will run on Win 7, but it'll cost me to upgrade my plug-ins, a new iLok and such . I had an old registered copy of Sonar 8.5 Producer, so I upgraded to X3 for $29. It runs really well. I have 4 gigs of RAM. I think it's working better because the X3 is made for newer OS. I liked using PT but the modern DAW for cheap is more attractive for me now. I still have all of the plug-ins from the 8.5 producer and the X3 platform.

I think the Cakewalk X3 requirements asked for a little more processing ass, but it seems to be functioning extremely well. I use the ASIO drivers and monitor in realtime with next to zero latency. I use the Perfect Space IR plug for some ambience on my mic'ed cab. That can be a resource eater, but I don't have any dropouts.

I've leaned on it pretty hard and it seems pretty stable so far.

Edit: I checked and the X3 does ask for more Processor, but it's running with less on my system.

Thanks amigo I am confident it will work so after I get my old P4 DAW running again (it broke a few days ago, I have a new case coming today), and am confident it will work, I will take my old office Core 2 duo computer which is being replaced by a new i5 Dell and configure it for audio use with 7/X3.

No ceegar the mobo and drive swap did not work, and I am gonna think a new build unless I can find a new power supply that will work with my old MoBo.

Would probably cost you less in the long run to just upgrade. It's nice to try to keep old tech going but there doesn't seem to be much reason to. $300 or so gets you a ripping barebones kit.
