Just wondering how to pan a plugin (any plugin) in Cubase or similar to apply an effect to a stereo track?

I know some effects already have neato stereo panning presets and what not but what I've never known how to do and would like is something like the old VH verb wash on one side with the dry signal on the other. I'm guessing it's super easy and simply a routing thing? I've tried a few things but can't figure it out. Thanks.

I don't know about Cubase, but in Pro Tools, a send has panning and level.  So you can send from the guitar track to the reverb only on the left side, or mostly on the left side.  Of course, evenif you do this, most reverbs are not truly stereo-separated, so you're going to get a lot of reverb from both sides.  But you can always set up an aux that's just on one side--I'm pretty sure that's what they are doing on VH1--a mono aux panned fairly hard.  Put the reverb on that.

Remember, you don't have to use stereo tracks and effects just because they are there... mono tracks are very effective for effects and sends...
yes, I've read that the old VH stuff was a mono guitar panned to one side, and a mono verb panned to the other.

In reading Recoding mag, I've seen mention of a more traditional usage like a mono guitar solo panned center, with a stereo verb panned wide to each side, or, a stereo verb panned out about 30% to each side, (like 10:00 and 2:00) etc.
OK, thanks for the quick responses. Unfortunately (for this time), I already recorded the clip with a stereo track, will see what mono can do next time. But still, gaining ground in the mixer area now by adding the verb plug to the guitar bus and playing with the panning, so simple, lol. I had been simply trying to apply the effect directly to the track (audio > plugins > apply, etc) and using the undo feature after exporting out a sample and of course saving without the effect permanently appplied.

I think we got it, it's better than what I had anyway, thanks again for the help! There is still a hint of verb on the 'dry' side but not much, it doesn't kill the effect of *one side dry, one side wet* anyway. I like it.

sounds cool, but I think you'd get more of the VH effect if you tone down the early reflection - have the verb side just a warm plate wash kinda thing.

Thanks for the tip sheep. Yep, something is definitely amiss with the reverb. Didn't notice it last night. I'll fool around a little with it again today but really, this was just a whim. I was looking for a nice brown crunch sound somewhere simply in the VH neighborhood, and since it ended up being fairly close, I firgured why not take a stab at the wash thing as well, eh. I'll prbably just end up applying the verb in the more traditional way (equal/balanced). Either way, I do still love this amp after almost 2 years now (gotta be a record for me, lol).
