I've just been playing around with the midi editor in pro tools. Again, first look at it and I didn't think it was very good, but after 30 minutes messing around with it, then it became clear and very easy to use.
Here's a little "classical" tune that I just made up (I think, may have heard bits from somewhere before, but it is in a "style" so could be anything really). All programmed one note at a time straight into the midi editor. Took me about 10 minutes to do.
