This is probably the best hi-gain amp modeler I've ever heard. Just listen to some of these clips.

"Metal Amp Room is based on an Engl Powerball amp, but we added a crunch channel which is based on a JCM800. It contains two different 4×12 cabinets with two mics each (an SM57 and AKG C414) which can be used in parallel. It was developed together with Patrik Jensen, the guitarist from The Haunted, and we measured the cabinets in the famous “In Flames”-studio (previously known as Studio Fredman) together with producer Tue Madsen and Patrik Jensen."

"We only bothered with the two hi gain channels, but instead of simulating the crunch channel from the Engl, we inserted the same preamp as in the JCM800, but kept the EQ, power amp and other circuits from the Engl. So it’s not a classic JCM800, more of a hybrid. The reason for this is that we wanted to get two different types of distortion in the two channels. And we like the kind of distortion the JCM800 has.
But that doesn’t mean that it sounds like a JCM800, it’s more an Engl with a JCM type of distortion. And yeah, we boosted the input gain of the JCM so that you can get far more distortion from this hybrid than the JCM in Vintage Amp Room."

I want it! Too bad Softube stuff requires that stupid dongle.  :-/
I love that window licking cat! ;D

Yeah, It sounds good.  $179 really isn't that bad for a good piece of software.  I have an iLok.  I may try the demo.

You can't blame the developers for trying to protect their interests.  All of my Pro Tools and McDSP stuff is iLok.

Most developers run deals on stuff every so often.  If you're patient, you can get it for much less.

That's how I got a deal on the McDSP Project Studio.  I tried the demo.  Then got emails from them.  They ran a deal for much less than regular price.

The iLok is easy once you have it set up.

Sounds absolutely WICKED!!!

Sounds pretty good within the mix.  Would be interested to hear in its rawest state.

179 isn't too bad at all.

and its a dongle world now...
That sounds amazing.
I just sent for the Demo License.  They sent it right away.  I sent for their Tube Delay as well.
I guess the coolest thing about this Plug-in is that it puts you in the Metal World right away.  It's easily adjustable with 2 mics to move forward or back, and then you can pan between the 2.  The amp controls have switches for more depth, Scooping, Lead and such.  But it's Metal, Metal, Metal.

I think you can get the same sounds with Line 6's Plug-in, Amplitube, Guitar Rig, whatever, but you have to sort through the amps and tweak to get your sound.  This puts you there right away.

I have the Line 6 Bundled Plug-in for the POD X3 and I also Have McDSP's Chrome Tone Amp.  I find no Huge difference in sound between the three plug-ins.  IMO.

I do like their Delay Plug-in.  I've seen it before along with that Feedback Plug-in.  Musta been before they Iloked them.
sounds really good. The vintage amps are really good too.
